In the Stars May 3-10, 2015…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

The week ahead is informed by the transformative energy of Pluto in a benefic trine to the Sun, exact on Wednesday. Use this powerful positive energy to let go of any outworn, unproductive, or even mediocre expressions of your live, and to better use your resources and empower yourself to make profound, positive change.

Sunday features a Full Moon in Scorpio, a time when we tend to want to draw inward and dwell in deep, quiet space. Thus, it may be a day you want to stay home and invite contemplation and self-awareness. However, the Moon is Full, and that energy is sometimes unpredictable and can stretch us, as the Moon pulls the tides. A dreamy Moon/Neptune trine and a Jupiter-Moon square amplify expression. Pluto aspects the Full Moon and gives strength for transforming challenges into benefits and blessings.

The Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon is Scorpio 14: TELEPHONE LINEMEN AT WORK INSTALLING NEW CONNECTIONS. The following is from Lynda Hill’s book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom (2010):
‘Telephone Linemen at Work Installing New Connections’ shows people working and concentrating on laying the ‘Lines’ for ‘Connections’ so that people may communicate with each other easily and effectively. They are laying cables to allow for the smooth functioning of the ‘Telephone’ system. They have a clear understanding of how the equipment works and how necessary and valuable it is to enable people to link up with each other.
This Symbol reflects an increase in the forms of communication that you can have access to, or that you have more communications coming to you. You may find that there has been a failure in communicating your thoughts, ideas or emotions lately. Something is being (or needs to be) done, or laid down, in order to solve, repair or patch up the situation…Sometimes advice and help must be called on for all to be resolved…This can symbolize expansion into areas like the Internet, faxes or business lines. It can also represent the spiritual connection to the “other side”, even channeling…It’s important to listen for the real truth in the communications that are being made, not to all the faint chitchat that surrounds what’s being said. Networking and new lines of communications often open up after this Symbol is revealed. “(For more information see Lynda’s website:

There is also big astronomical news: that NASA’s MESSENGER spacecraft crashed into Mercury on April 30th. This ended a years-long mission that made many unexpected discoveries about the innermost planet. The Science News summarizes some of MESSENGER’s most surprising finds at this link: This is an interesting coincidence with the Sabian Symbol for the Sun at the Full Moon that symbolizes communications and new connections.

Both Sunday and Monday are expanded by a Sun-Jupiter square, an aspect of excess. This can deliver courage, confidence, and risk taking, though beware of a tendency toward exaggeration or unrealistic expectations. Use this inflationary energy to be more creative and ambitious. Put some serious exercise into your day—a concrete action and metaphor for stretching yourself in a positive way beyond your comfort zone.

The Moon is in sunny Sagittarius from Tuesday through mid-day Thursday. The exuberance of the Sag Moon is tempered Tuesday by the Moon’s conjunction with Saturn. This aspect is likely to slow you down; use it to think and plan before you leap forward. A metaphor would be to set your course and make sure you have supportive shoes and are well hydrated before you take off running! Saturn can actually support us to live well, if we take the time and care to prepare and ground ourselves before taking big leaps. A Neptune square to the Moon in the evening draws us toward imaginative hopes and dreams.

Wednesday is an expansive, exuberant day. The Sun-Pluto trine is exact, giving an extra big boost of energy to power up your life in more bountiful and rewarding actions and expressions. The Moon forms a Fire Grand Trine with Jupiter and Uranus, igniting positive possibilities in big ways. This is one super-great, potent day to turbo-charge and uplift your life! Start training for a marathon race; make a plan to move; end a bad habit for good; step into new work; or get started writing a book. Make the most of this wonderful day!

Thursday morning still offers the sunny optimism of the Sag Moon, but with a mid-day shift to the more somber, practical, hard-working energy of the Capricorn Moon. Venus moves into Cancer tropically (until June 6), giving more sweet, focused attention to home and family.

The turbulent, high-energy day of the week when the Moon shines its light on the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square this week is Friday. The serious and somber Capricorn Moon joins Pluto and then squares Uranus, demanding hard work and paying attention. As usual on this day, put your shoulder to the grindstone and bring ideas and energies into form. A Sun-Moon trine and Moon-Neptune sextile soften the edges and deliver opportunities. Be prepared for surprises so that you can gain from what is offered on this active, engaging day.

Saturday generously brings a dreamy, imaginative morning, followed by a meandering afternoon with the Moon VoC (1:35-4:22 PM Pacific Time). Yet, Saturday’s Capricorn Moon can be used to do yard work, clean the garage, and put things in order—while inspiring yourself with music you love that gives you energy. Saturday evening is time to gather with a motley crew of friends for a fun and relaxing good time!

Sunday, Mother’s Day, calls for new forms of fun and group gatherings with friends. You may want to celebrate Mother’s Day with friends and your tribal family. It’s a day for conversation and widening perspectives.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet and before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. You will more easily get lost or meander if you’re trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
