In the Stars January 25-February 1, 2015…shining light on the astrology of the week

We are now sailing toward the 7th and final Uranus-Pluto square on March 16, ending a three-year period of revolutionary change. It won’t end precisely on March 16, as there will be a subsequent period of integration; yet, the next seven weeks give us strong energy to continue major change and transformation. The invitation for each of us personally is to seize this opening to step boldly forward into the changes we want to make in our lives. Each week when the Moon highlights this square there is a thrust of dynamic change energy available. Consciously use these weekly thrusts in the next seven weeks to make the big changes in your life that you want to make. For an astute overview of the planetary aspects and energies of 2015, I share with you an excellent summary written by Marcia Starck, my friend and colleague, located in Santa Fe: http://earthmedicineways.com/?p=556. Marcia has been practicing, teaching, and writing about astrological topics for many years, specializing in medical astrology.

This past week was packed with inventive genius, vision, possibility and opportunity. What fresh opportunities and possibilities did you envision or begin to pursue? Mercury turned retrograde on Wednesday, January 21, inviting us to re-think, re-imagine, and re-vitalize our lives. How will you use this retrograde period through mid-February to reform and re-invigorate your life?

Sunday is the turbulent day of the week when the cardinal Moon in Aries shines its light on the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square. Whatever is new and adventurous simply spills open to us with invitation. Jupiter-trine-Moon amplifies positive possibilities and crowns this day with fun and exuberance! Open your doors and windows to the surprises and opportunities that are knocking at your door and breezing through the windows.

The Moon is exalted in Taurus from Monday through Wednesday afternoon. This is the time of the month when all things sensual are highlighted. Beautify your work space at the beginning of this period Monday. Cook and eat sumptuous food. Infuse your environment with good music, fragrant smells, and simple, elegant delights. The fixed earth Taurus Moon provides grounding to manifest the creative ideas stirred up by last week’s abundant aspects of possibility. Monday evening’s lunar sextile to Neptune delivers softness, grace, and inspiration.

Themes of love and beauty are further amplified Tuesday when Venus (the ruler of Taurus) moves into Pisces, its sign of exaltation. On Tuesday and Wednesday both the Moon and Venus shine in their signs of exaltation! The Moon makes benefic aspects to Mars and Pluto, enabling productivity. Inventive Mercury-sextile-Uranus infuses this day, and the few surrounding it, with brilliant ideas and surprising solutions and innovations. Open your mind and your heart on Tuesday and allow many good things to flow through your life.

Wednesday the Moon is Void-of-Course in Taurus until it moves into Gemini at 2:36 PM Pacific Time. Until the Moon arrives in Gemini, don’t fritter your energy away in meetings or with matters calling for decisions. Rather, putter, read, and clean your office. The evening is serious and somber as the Moon opposes Saturn, but this can be good for focused work and resolve.

Thursday and Friday the Moon in Gemini stirs curiosity. The Moon makes a flowing trine to Mercury and the Sun in Aquarius; inventive thoughts and ideas infuse conversations. Creative ideas in abundance will result from meetings. Engage with colleagues over lunch and/or happy hour and be ready to soak in the fountain of ideas that will flow.

On Friday, there is a very long (22-hour) Void Moon. The Gemini Moon is great for lively conversation and generating ideas, but don’t waste your time with activities calling for clear decision making. Venus-square-Saturn demands focused attention to satisfy desires. Rewards don’t come easily, but they can result from hard work. A Mars-Pluto sextile gives drive…through which progress can be made.

Saturday and Sunday the Moon is in home-loving Cancer. Both of these days are extra sweet, even with the dynamic Uranus-Pluto square highlighted in the mix. Languor in the comfort of your home and cook some comfort food. Allow your imagination to be stirred. Bring out your inner artist and color your divine world beautiful!

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet and before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. You will more easily get lost or meander if you’re trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.

One Response to In the Stars January 25-February 1, 2015…shining light on the astrology of the week

  1. I am, like many people I know who “do” astrology, always puzzled about what to do or what to avoid during the Mercury Retrograde periods. Right now, in the past few days, I received “notice” from the Phoenix German Speakers society that the four people who have been the “leaders” and kept things going were going to “step down.” Yet, they tell me, they have no one to take over for them. Ever eager to address such issues as a natal Sagittarian, I have started to “volunteer” to take over all the work they’re leaving behind. A man from Berlin who was supposed to lead this group did, very honestly, not do a good job, because he has no idea how to work with groups and has a job that he claims exhausts him.

There is great potential for continuing the group and making changes. I have many ideas from my own teaching in colleges for years. But I realize that this entire situation has arisen during the start of the current Mercury Retrograde. A major “split” to overcome is the contrast between those who are only “elementary” at German and those who are “pros,” even often “native” Germans. I would set up structured exercises and get the advanced people paired with the beginners. I have ideas that I know “could” work, but I am wary of starting this project smack during this retrograde. As the man from Berlin complained, metro Phoenix is SO huge and so spread out that it is hard to know where to have meetings, where to put on programs, find restaurants, etc..

With all four of those who perceived themselves as doing all the work (and they did) suddenly “resigning” and then calling to tell me about this, even specifying how many days and hours would be left under their leadership (which was not well executed, as they did not have good ideas about how to receive and work with others), I can’t help but feel there is some sort of manipulation in this situation, including the “threat” that the entire organization will just collapse if someone (like me) does not assume all the work! Well, I lived for many years and learned German without this group, so I could survive its demise!

I really have not decided what I will do with this situation. I have had enough stress and ill health and other problems in my life recently that I hesitate. Yet I know I do well at such challenges. I don’t yet know what I will do, but I am in the “countdown” period. Perhaps I should just let Mercury Retrograde show those who are seeming to “flake out” right now see what results they get if no one and nothing answers their search! Most people I know well are having hard times with the sorts of planetary energies that have been ripe and riling us all up, so I can’t be sure that putting out online notices will bring people in very fast. I’m told that the group used to be huge.
    We’ll see.
