In the Stars February 1-8, 2015…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

To re-iterate, we are sailing toward the 7th and final Uranus-Pluto square on March 16, ending a three-year period of revolutionary change. It won’t end precisely on March 16, as there will be a subsequent period of integration; yet, the next six weeks give us strong energy to continue major change and transformation. The invitation for each of us personally is to seize this opening to step boldly forward into the changes we want to make in our lives. Each week when the Moon highlights this square there is a thrust of dynamic change energy available. Consciously use these weekly thrusts to make the big changes in your life that you want to make. Mercury is still retrograde =–until February 11, a period that calls us to pause and re-think and review and revise. Continue to exercise caution in communication during this retrograde period and be graceful and generous when you encounter errors and mistakes in understanding.

I have just learned that my astrologer friend and colleague, Jeff Jawer, has been diagnosed with a serious illness. Jeff is the co-founder of StarIQ (www.stariq) with Rick Levine, and writes the astrological forecasts for The Mountain Astrologer which serve as a strong resource for my weekly writings. His daughters have set up a crowd funding to help with costs at this critical time for their family; click here to contribute.

Themes of love and beauty have been highlighted in the past week. How have you colored your world with more love and beauty? Venus (the ruler of Taurus) is now in its exaltation in Pisces. Express your life poetically and artfully over the next three weeks (see the list of “Ten Things to Do with Venus in Pisces” below).

Sunday the Moon is in home-loving Cancer. The weekend has been extra sweet, even with the dynamic Uranus-Pluto square highlighted in the mix. Languor in the comfort of your home; cook some comfort food, and enjoy the Super Bowl game with family and friends. Before or after the game (or as an alternative to the game), allow your imagination to be stirred: Bring out your inner artist and color your divine world beautiful!

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday glow with the warmth of the playful Leo Moon. Monday sizzles with the fire-crackling energy of the Sun-sextile-Uranus. Surprises may be delivered! A lunar trine to sensible Saturn helps manifest creative ideas. Work can be done that feels like play, and the impossible may actually become possible.

The brilliant Full Moon in Leo arrives Tuesday. This illuminates the Aquarius-Leo axis, highlighting individual and collective needs and expression. Leo symbolizes individual creativity; Aquarius symbolizes the collective and what we can co-create with our community. This bright, bold Full Moon Grand Trine includes a conjunction of the Moon with expansive Jupiter, a lunar trine to Uranus, and a trine to Pallas Athena, the asteroid that symbolizes leadership, strategy, and the arts. Wow! It’s a big, great blessing! The Sabian symbols for this Full Moon deliver joy and celebration. The symbol of the Moon at 15 Leo is “A pageant, with its spectacular floats, moves along a street crowded with cheering people.” The symbol for the Sun at 15 Aquarius is: “Two lovebirds sitting on a fence and singing happily: the blessing bestowed upon personal achievements by the spiritually fulfilled consciousness of the Soul.” These symbols call on us to sing our songs and to celebrate the joy in life. Embrace and bask in exuberance on Tuesday. Enable brilliant ideas to be turned into actualized results.

Wednesday the Moon is Void-of-Course all day. Although still in the glowing potential of yesterday’s Full Moon, it’s a day to relax and play and enjoy the sunshine rather than one for astonishing productivity. Garden and play with your children or grandchildren, and take the day easy.

The Moon delivers order and efficiency through the Virgo Moon on Thursday and Friday. Give your “to do” list the works and get a lot of tasks completed. Mercury makes a flowing aspect to Saturn, delivering rationality and reasonable thinking. With some contrasting energies, lunar oppositions to Neptune and Venus soften the focus and bring out the meandering, compassionate, inspired artist. In addition to accomplishing a sufficient number of tasks on your “to do” list, pursue a little pleasure by joining friends for happy hour or dinner, especially at an inspiring place where there’s some delightful music.

Friday is both industrious and expansive (Sun opposite Jupiter). Plan to get errands and shopping done, or anything requiring decisions accomplished before the Moon goes Void-of-Course at 2:09 PM Pacific Time. Then you can still use the Virgo Moon for clean-up and putting order in your life, though the energy may be less focused.

Saturday and Sunday the Moon is in sociable Libra. This is a weekend for socializing, and in particular for a romantic date Saturday evening with your beloved. The icing on the cake is a Venus-Pluto sextile that highlights themes of love and intimacy. Pursue your passions—both in terms of activities you love to do and also spending quality time with the special people in your life. The cardinal air Moon highlights the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square on Sunday, shaking out some challenges and surprises. This is the weekly pulsing that prods us toward revolutionary change in our lives. Take the helm and guide your ship through the strong winds to new destinations. The evening is crowned with a lunar sextile to Jupiter, bringing joy and delight to the end of the weekend.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet and before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. You will more easily get lost or meander if you’re trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
