In the Stars August 23-30, 2015…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

This is a special blog to write, as this week is my birthday week (August 29 on the Full Moon. I was born 8/29/52 at 8:29 p.m. in Chillicothe, Missouri). So 829 is definitely my number!

The Sun has just rolled into the sign of Virgo tropically. It’s back to school and back to work. The month ahead calls for self-improvement and putting more order in your life. See the Virgo Astrology Reading Special offer at the end of the blog!

Sunday’s Sag Moon beckons us toward adventure and exploration. Take a hike, or plan your next long-distance trip. The Sag Moon is a good backdrop for a party. Lunar aspects to Mars and Venus Sunday evening also call for sharing this Moon’s optimism and good cheer with others. The Sun begins its journey through Virgo on Sunday, as well.

Monday is buoyed by a Moon-Uranus trine and a Mercury-Ceres trine. We can communicate empathically and open up to intuitive wisdom. Be optimistic about life in general, especially the month ahead. The Moon is Void-of-Course from 3:04 to 9:22 PM PDT, so just chill from mid-afternoon through evening. In the evening hours curl up and read an inspiring book that expands your mind, or just enjoy social time with friends.

The Moon is in serious and hard-working Capricorn on Tuesday and Wednesday. With the Virgo Sun as backdrop, these are opportune days to get serious work accomplished. Tuesday the Moon makes benefic aspects to the Sun, Jupiter, and Neptune, expanding the aims and intentions of the hard work inherent in these alignments. Moon conjunct Pluto in the evening may draw us toward deep engagement in a work project about which we feel passionate. Tuesday is one hard-working day, when a lot can be accomplished. Make it count.

On Wednesday there are two planetary alignments that are odd in synchronicity. One alignment is expansive and optimistic (Sun conjunct Jupiter). Another alignment is discerning, practical, and productive (Mercury sextile Saturn). With the practical, grounded, hardworking Virgo Sun as a backdrop, we can combine optimism and productivity to take a leap forward and get a lot accomplished.

The Aquarius Moon lights up our lives Thursday and Friday. This moon highlights friendships, groups, and societal concerns. Mercury enters Libra. Usually Mercury enters a sign for a three-week stay, but it will be in Libra for nine weeks, three times the normal stay due to its retrograde motion from September 18-October 10. During this time our thoughts may focus appropriately on relationships and fairness.

Mercury joins the North Node on Friday, August 28, helping us focus on our many purposes in this life. The Moon aligns with Venus and Uranus. Wonderful human connections (and love affairs) are possible. Be spontaneous and open to serendipity and variance.

Saturday and Sunday the Moon is in sweet, inspiring Pisces. The Moon is Full on Saturday (11:53 AM PDT exact). The powerful planetary alignments on Saturday deliver expansiveness, vision, inspiration, and depth of feeling. Let your imagination soar and power up your intentions several notches. Since Saturday is a Full Moon (and my birthday), a great gift to me would be for you to let me know how you will allow your imagination to soar and how you power up your intentions. Sunday’s planetary energy is relatively quiet. The Moon’s sextile to Saturn gives some discipline to the visionary, ethereal Pisces Moon influence. This is a quiet, meditative day. Swim. Create a piece of art. Write a poem. Or…just relax.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet and before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. You will more easily get lost or meander if you’re trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
