In the Stars…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon December 3

The coming week is euphoric with the building Jupiter-Neptune trine, exact on Saturday, December 2, and the Sun in sunny Sagittarius. Mercury turns retrograde Sunday, December 3, so make travel plans and arrangements early in the week. The Mercury retrograde three-week period is a time for pause and review. Saturn is located at the Galactic Center, 27 degrees of Sagittarius (exactly where my Moon is located).  Saturn’s passage over this black hole enables us to access intuition and high-level insights and solutions.

Sunday is soft and dreamy. The day glows with inspiration, creativity, and happiness. Use this beautiful, expansive energy to make your home merry and bright for the holiday season.

Monday is gentle and caring, with the Moon in Pisces conjunct Chiron, the planetary body symbolizing holistic healing. This would be a good day to do something compassionate toward others…or healing for yourself. A Mercury/Saturn conjunction can lead to worry and doubt, yet can also give us focus and determination. Go for the latter! In the evening, lay out your clothes and your plans for work tomorrow, as the Moon will be void of course early Tuesday morning from 4:09 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. PST. A Void Moon in Pisces is especially undefined; so we will have trouble getting going in the morning unless we are well prepared.

After the void period for several hours before 8:30 Tuesday morning, the Moon bounces into action-oriented Aries, and makes a benefic trine to the Sagittarius Sun later in the day. This is a good day to get going and wrap up travel plans, arrangements, and invitations before Mercury turns retrograde on the weekend.

Power onward Wednesday with the Moon continuing in Aries, making a powerful square to Pluto. Give this day the works, and make it count!

A pre-dawn Moon-Uranus conjunction on Thursday sounds the alarm for a bold, productive day. This conjunction will be a perfect start to my trip to Sedona, Arizona, for a Vedic astrology conference, and to visit old and dear friends. The Moon is void of course between 10:37 a.m. and 12:38 p.m., so avoid meetings during this time and stick to routine tasks. Our productivity is enhanced by a Moon-Saturn-Mercury trine. At 12:38 p.m. PST, the Moon moves into easy, sensual Taurus. Settle into the afternoon and evening, and please your palate with a delicious dinner.

Friday scatter-shoots unsettling energies against the usually calm and easy-going Taurus Moon. Energetic Mars opposes Uranus, pushing us out of our comfort zones. This is also an accident-prone energy, so go slow and be careful, and heed the thunder in your life. The Moon makes benefic aspects to Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto. Venus enters Sagittarius, so see “Ten Things to Do with Venus in Sagittarius” below, from now until Christmas Day. The Moon goes void of course at 5:53 p.m. PST, so sign off from the work week, relax, and enjoy a pleasant evening.

Saturday and Sunday the Moon is in curious and conversational Gemini. Jupiter trines Neptune exactly, the first of three exact trines (May 25 and August 19 are the second and third). This is a divine, visionary aspect that calls us to the ideal, to release resentments, and to move toward compassion and forgiveness. This aspect colors the weekend beautiful. Better yet, this aspect provides a holy umbrella over us through August. Also note that Mercury turns retrograde for three weeks until December 22, calling for a time to review, revise, and renew.

This week ends and a new week begins with a Full Moon. Neptune squares this Full Moon, both clouding and uplifting issues. This is a Super Full Moon, with the Moon in close proximity to the Earth, magnifying its appearance and emotional intensity. Sunday is not a good day for sorting out what is true; rather, it is a day for considering many options. Sunday also features several other tight challenging aspects: a T-square with Mars, Uranus/Pallas Athena and Juno; and another square with Saturn/Mercury and Chiron. With these many, tense aspects, this day will be one when issues will need to be addressed. Be prepared to pay to play.

Ten Things to Do with Venus in Sagittarius (December 1-24, 2017): 1. Invite someone to dinner who is from a different culture or has a different religion. 2. Express appreciation to your in-laws. 3. Plan your next long-distance trip (or make a wish list). 4. Read a book about a far-away country, culture, or religion. 5. Expand your knowledge of metaphysics. 6. Write—and publish. 7. Visit a religious art exhibit, or one from another country or culture. 8. Explore a philosophy through a book, book-on-tape, or a lecture. 9. Take a hike (Sagittarius rules the thighs). 10. Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.

Void-of-Course Moon times for the month ahead (one lunar cycle) are:

One Response to In the Stars…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon December 3

  1. Joseph John Lang, Ph.D. says:

I have a Venus-Mercury conjunction on the Galactic Center also (though I don’t really know the significance of that).

Enjoy Sedona. Northern Arizona is a whole world of difference from Phoenix. I am most familiar with Northern AZ, though I did not live or work in Sedona. If you have time, check out Flagstaff, which is virtually an alpine environment.

Everyplace west of the Mississippi seems to be far too dry — drought is still “on” in Arizona and Southern California. I also think the ever-creeping over-average warmth is disturbing.
