In the Stars…shining light on the astrology of the week

Now the Sun marches on through Aquarius, bringing a focus on invention, brilliant ideas, friendship, and humanitarian concerns. Mercury goes retrograde on February 16 for a three-week backward spin, so sign contracts and complete projects that require communication and getting things in print before the 16th. Mars goes out of bounds on Sunday, often resulting in more erratic behavior and hotter tempers. Mars moves into its exaltation in Capricorn also on February 16th, though the South Node approaches Mars and all these factors with Mars are volatile. Savor the relative calm of the week ahead, as stormy cosmic weather is ahead.

Saturday or Sunday, depending on where you live, the Moon is full in Leo at 11:33 p.m. PST Saturday evening, or 7:33 GMT on Sunday. One symbolic theme is individual action (Leo) in the interest of the collective (Aquarius). We strive to level the playing field. The Moon is void of course all day Sunday. On Sunday Mars goes out of bounds where it will be beyond the Sun’s apparent path until March 2nd. When Mars, or any planet, is out of bounds it behaves more erratically and unpredictably. With Mars out of bounds, tempers may flare more easily, and actions may be triggered more impulsively. Keep this in mind, and refrain from heated entanglements or unexamined actions. Sunday morning the Leo Moon is trine to Mars in Sagittarius. Get your running shoes on and head to the gym or trail. With Moon in Leo, make it a play day with your children, or your inner child. At 3:38 p.m. PST the Moon moves into industrious Virgo. Get yourself organized Sunday evening for the week ahead.

In the light of the efficient Virgo Moon, Monday is a great day to focus on
completing loose ends and getting organized. As the Moon makes a benefic trine to Jupiter in the late afternoon, we glow about all we have accomplished, and may want to relax in the sweetness of a Moon-Neptune opposition. We can tap into our needs for love, as Venus is conjunct Chiron.

Strong energy for accomplishment is available as the day dawns Tuesday. Get going and get some vigorous exercise. Then from 10:26 a.m. to 3:37 p.m. PST the Moon is void of course; energy is less clearly defined, so it’s good to attend to routine, insignificant tasks during this time. Late afternoon the Moon shifts into Libra, opposing Chiron, and increasing our sensitivity. Enjoy a beautiful dinner with your beloved.

An irritating aspect Wednesday between Mercury and Saturn may make us extra cautious about our communication, or it can give extra focus for mental activities. A Moon-Jupiter square may deliver an extra dose of optimism—or overdoing. With the Moon in Libra, we seek beauty. Select beautiful clothes and jewelry to wear; seek elegance and beauty in your environment; and relax into some fine dining.

Thursday is heavy with demanding planetary aspects. The day begins with the Moon’s edgy squares to Pluto and Saturn. The best way to use this challenging energy it to lean in and work hard. A three-hour void Moon period between1:40 p.m. and 4:37 p.m. calls for a pause prior to the Moon’s deep dive into the murky waters of Scorpio. Expect the unexpected with the erratic energies of Uranus as it opposes the Moon in the evening.

Valentine’s Day falls on Friday, which is Venus’ Day, or Viernes. Since Venus is the planet of love, this alignment sweetens the day. In addition, the day holds several benefic aspects. With the Moon in Scorpio, we want to hold our loved ones close, as well as enjoy some solitude. This is an evening to stay at home and cuddle up. Express your love for those you hold dear.

Get your Saturday shopping and errands done in the early part of Saturday, as the Scorpio Moon goes void of course at 2:20 p.m. PST, and then it’s best to focus on routine household tasks, gardening, or reading, as you may feel a lack of direction. When the Moon is in Scorpio, we seek solitude, so give yourself some time alone. The Moon makes benefic aspects to Pluto and Saturn, so much can be accomplished.  The dark mood lightens in the evening after the Moon moves into Sagittarius at 8:07 p.m. PST.

Sunday is an eventful day in the cosmos. Mercury turns retrograde for a three-week backward spin through March 9th. Mars moves into Capricorn tropically where it is exalted, or high functioning. The Sagittarius Moon trines Venus in Aries. This is a high-powered, spirited day.

Monday, President’s Day is colored by the sunny Sagittarius Moon. It’s a dreamy, visionary day.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
