In the Stars…shining light on the astrology of the week

The New Moon that formed on Friday marked the beginning of the Chinese New Year of the Metal Rat. The Rat symbolizes wealth and accumulation. This is a year to get organized and attend to many small practical matters, especially regarding finances. As Aquarius symbolizes new thinking, we are invited to open to new ideas, solutions, and possibilities. The week ahead is a productive one. Progress can be made on goals by breaking things down into small steps—and taking them.

Sunday Venus and Mars make an agitating exact square to powerful Pluto.  The Moon continues void of course almost all day until 3:44 p.m. PST. Take it easy; stick to routine tasks, and employ the detached energy of the Aquarius Sun and Moon to mind your own business and stay cool. End the day with a hot bath; get to bed early and give yourself a long sleep.

Love is in the air on Monday. The day is laced with sweetness and compassion. Do a random act of kindness.

Against the backdrop of a dreamy Pisces Moon, Tuesday is full of planetary activity that is erratic, inventive, imaginative, and generative. The Moon’s benefic alignments with Saturn and Pluto help us get some work done in the vascillating waves of the day. Honor your intuition and clever ideas.

We are energized Wednesday as the Moon moves into action-oriented fire sign Aries and begins a new lunar cycle. Get moving! Start your day with vigorous exercise. The Sun and Moon align in a benefic sextile. Planetary energies cry for independence, so it’s a day to strike out on your own and honor your goals and desires.

Ceres, the Earth mother goddess, leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius, delighted to entertain new options, relieved to be out of the grip of Saturn and Pluto. The intensity of many planets in Capricorn this past month is beginning to break apart and move on. With the Moon still in Aries aspecting Jupiter and Mars, it’s another day for independent expression. Forge ahead with new projects.

Friday, just after the Moon squares Pluto and Saturn in the early morning, it is void of course all day until 4:28 p.m. PST, thus making the day better for routine tasks rather than meetings and activities calling for decisions. Yet, a lot can be accomplished. Expect a surprising start to the weekend as the Moon conjoins Uranus in the evening.

Saturday is the first day of February 2020—already we are one month into this new decade. Saturday is Saturn’s Day, and day for productivity, duty, and work. The Moon is in Taurus where it is exalted, or highest functioning. Taurus is fixed earth symbolizing all things sensual. Our passions are stirred by a benefic Venus-Pluto sextile. Our goals are buoyed by a Moon-Jupiter trine. Our productivity is encouraged by a Moon-Sun square. This is a day to lean in, work hard, and be productive.

Sunday is another beautiful, sensual day with the Moon exalted in Taurus, and making numerous benefic aspects. Use this productive day to get a lot accomplished and to prepare well for the week ahead.

The Moon moves into curious, conversation-oriented Gemini. Venus in Pisces dances with Saturn and Pluto in a benefic sextile, encouraging us to love our work, and to develop our dreams by taking practical steps forward.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work
