In the Stars September 17-24, 2017…shining light on the astrology of the week: Fall Equinox, New Moon

We shift this week from summer to fall, from mutable/changeable Virgo to cardinal/action-oriented Libra on Friday, September 22, the Autumn Equinox. This marks a seasonal shift when we harvest the growth of summer. Here in the Sonoma Valley of my residence, the grape harvest comes! All autumn harrvesting is metaphorical for how we can all take what we have cultivated over the summer months and make it into something new, something that will age well over time.

The week behind us was graced by a Venus-Saturn trine and a Venus-Jupiter trine, aspects that may have helped us make good choices and good decisions. Were there nice surprises and rewards for efforts? Venus ingresses into Virgo on Tuesday, joining the Sun, Mercury, and Mars. These last few days before the Sun moves on into Libra are super-charged with Virgo’s efficient energy for cleaning, organizing, and getting things into shipshape before the Fall Equinox arrives on Friday.

Amazing things could happen on this golden Sunday. Benefic aspects abound, including a Venus-Uranus trine. The Moon joins Venus, and makes good aspects to Saturn, Jupiter, and Uranus. With all this generous, positive energy, grounded by the Sun, Mars, and Mercury in get-it-done Virgo, this day could be awesome. Try something new! Keep it fun and creative, and expect at least one sweet surprise.

Monday and Tuesday, the Moon is in industrious Virgo, along with the Sun, Mercury, and Mars. Venus joins the clean-up party on Tuesday. When the Moon is in Virgo these few days, we should bring order to the chaos of our lives. The Moon is dark on Monday just before the New Moon on Tuesday, signaling a time to reign in our energies, and take some solitude in preparation for a new cycle. These two days are supercharged for the efficient completion of tasks, for clearing clutter and organizing. Make the most of these special days. Vision and inspiration are at hand with Neptune opposing the Moon on Monday and Mercury on Tuesday. Let your mind wander, pondering possibilities while you clean up your home or office. Tuesday’s New Moon in Virgo calls for us to set new goals for diet, health, and self-improvement. A Grand Earth trine between Pluto in Capricorn, Mercury in Virgo, and Pallas Athena in Taurus trine gives us the ability to use our skills and wisdom to get things done.

After all that you have accomplished Monday and Tuesday, you can relax and take it easy on Wednesday. The Moon is in languorous Libra. Graciousness is highlighted, so take time to thank the people who help you. Make the world around you a little more beautiful.

Relationships could be tested on Thursday. The conflict-averse Libra Moon is in a testy aspect to Pluto, which may bring emotional issues to a head. However, there is good problem-solving energy [Moon sextile Saturn], and kindness and compassion [Sun sextile Ceres].

Friday is full of planetary aspects and their resulting activity. However, the day starts without focus due to the Void of Course Moon until 10:40 a.m., when the Moon ingresses into Scorpio. Coupled with a Mercury-Pluto trine, the Scorpio Moon makes us want to dive deep into emotional matters. The Sun moves into Libra, marking the Fall Equinox. Top the day with a scrumptious dinner that pleases the senses with close friends or loved ones.

The Scorpio Moon makes benefic aspects to Mars, Neptune, and Pluto on Saturday, which should stir our passions and engage us in matters that count. A Venus-Juno trine calls for focus on our significant other. Create a special date night with your beloved.

We do not know what to expect on Sunday, with the Moon Void of Course all day and evening in Scorpio. Our energy is further compromised by a Mars-Neptune opposition that clouds the potential of the day. Sunday is made for gardening, reading, or walking in beauty. Leave the day open to the unknown.

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Another golden Sunday! Wonderful, perhaps amazing things could happen.

Monday: Make order out of chaos.

Tuesday: Double Virgo day for efficient work organizing, cleaning, and getting tasks done.

Wednesday: Slow down, be gracious, and enjoy the beauty around you.

Thursday: Relationships could be tested, but there is good problem-solving energy to resolve issues.

Friday: VoC Moon: slow start until 10:40 a.m. Sun moves into Libra, marking the Fall Equinox. Enjoy a special dinner.

Saturday: Passions stirred. Focus on your significant other and make it a special day.

Sunday: Leave the day open to the unknown. Moon VoC all day. Read, garden, or walk in beauty.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.

Exact Void-of-Course Moon times for the month ahead (one lunar cycle) are:

One Response to In the Stars September 17-24, 2017…shining light on the astrology of the week: Fall Equinox, New Moon

  1. Joseph John Lang, Ph.D. says:

Well, Sunday did seem “better.” I went to drive to the Mayo Clinic to see exactly where it was and how it is laid out. My God, such huge glass buildings sitting at the edge of the desert! Not a soul around. But with the number of parking spaces and the total layout, one can imagine how many people are there on weekdays. It’s like an entire city, and they have more!

I stopped in a prominent health food store here. They want to hire me to work there. We’ve discussed this before. Today a woman working there who is, interestingly, from Toronto, Canada, was urging me to come to work there. I have learned a whole lot from studying how to handle my own serious health problems now (amazingly, I keep looking good, so I’m told, and that’s because of taking “health foods” or “supplements”). I also learned a whole lot as my mother’s almost total caretaker for seven years before she died. Amazing how our “troubles” can be our teachers (Saturn stuff, I suppose, and Saturn is my chart ruler).

Nice to see only one horrible motor vehicle accident on my relatively short trip today. There was a sort of “mellowness” in the air. My own vehicle that was rammed in a criminal incident is being “repaired” after all. My insurance company was at first pushing to “total” it.

Mars opposition Neptune in my personal transits has never been very nice. I wonder if there’s any way to make it nicer than I’ve seen it!
