In the Stars September 1-8, 2019…shining light on the astrology of the week

I am at the NCGR (National Council on Geocosmic Research) Conference in Baltimore, where I spoke yesterday on The Astrology of Place. This week five planets continue to shine in Virgo. For another two weeks we have this stellium of planets in Virgo to help us get our lives in good order. A great deal of work can be done with efficiency and focused attention.

The South Node and Saturn are exactly conjunct all week. This is a karmic alignment that invites us to clean up debts and encumbrances, and to let go of worn-out structures that no longer serve.

The Moon is void of course almost all day on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. When the Moon is void of course it is difficult for things to come together. Meetings are usually unproductive, and decisions are not clear and sound and often have to be re-thought. During these times it is best to apply yourself to routine tasks, or take a walk or read a book. This is a week to plan wisely to make the most of the varied energies.

Sunday is a brilliant day; Mercury trines Uranus. Venus makes a benefic trine to Saturn, making work a pleasure. Although a Moon-Saturn square can feel constrictive, a Jupiter-Moon sextile assures us that all is well. Conversations may yield great ideas.

A Sun-Mars conjunction in Virgo is a bold, powerful aspect that can be used to start a big project and move your goals forward.  Monday is yet another day, like many recently, when the Moon is void of course for almost the whole day (1:33 a.m. – 4:35 p.m. PDT). Stick to insignificant, routine tasks, and don’t waste your time on meetings and connections that will not deliver. A Venus-Jupiter square is the main aspect of the day. This is an optimistic aspect. Be careful not to promise more than you can deliver.

Tuesday and Wednesday the Moon is in Scorpio, a time when feelings run deep, and when we need more solitude for pondering serious matters of concern. Tuesday is loaded with aspects; expect it to be an active day. Mercury is conjunct Sun and Mars, giving energy to push plans and projects forward. Be bold and courageous, and step into your great work.

Yet again on Wednesday the Moon is void of course all day from 3:58 a.m. through 8:08 p.m. PDT, so stick to insignificant tasks and refrain from meetings and decisions that will likely be a waste of time. Venus opposes Neptune, and aspect that may cast doubt on what we value, and yet it can engage our imagination. See the beauty and sweetness in the day, or add some to what you are doing.

A Mercury-Saturn trine in earth signs, against the backdrop of a Sagittarius Moon, gives us the ability to think clearly and make sound plans and decisions with vision and optimism. The Moon makes edgy squares to the Sun and Mars later in the day. The evening commute may be challenging. Manage the fussiness you may feel, and put your attention on explorations such as future travel plans.

Against the backdrop of a day when the Moon is void of course all day (from 9:03 a.m. through tomorrow at 3:37 a.m. PDT), there are several key aspects. The Sun in Virgo is trine Saturn in Capricorn, giving a solid foundation for our work. Two aspects draw us deeper into relationship: Venus-trine-Pluto, and Uranus-trine-Juno. A Venus-Neptune opposition adds some dazzle, and a desire to dance. It is Friday, Viernes, the day ruled by Venus, the planet symbolizing love. If you are in a relationship, take it deeper. If you are not, make yourself available for a social evening with friends. Who knows who you may meet with Uranus-trine-Juno (the planet of the mate).

The weekend is framed for work and productivity with the Moon settling into Capricorn tropically from early Saturday morning through Monday afternoon. We may veer off track, or at least see another way to do things as a result of the Mercury-Neptune opposition and a Moon-Uranus trine.  Set out to get a lot accomplished, but allow yourself the freedom and space for something unexpected in your day.

Our goals are big for Sunday, buoyed by a Sun-Jupiter square. The Moon is in Capricorn, making it a day focused on work. Aspects are numerous. The Moon, Saturn, and the South Node align exactly in the morning, and the Moon, Mercury, and Pluto align exactly in the evening. These alignments are strong and powerful. At the end of the weekend we may have intense conversations and strong thoughts about plans and goals for the week ahead. We will be held by the strong energy of a Mars-Saturn trine at the end of the day. This is not a light, relaxing Sunday. Rather, it is a day for hard work and manifesting intentions, so lean in and make the best of these strong energies at play.

The work week may start slowly, and not so clearly, with the Moon void of course from early in the morning through mid-afternoon. Focus on cleaning up whatever small tasks were left from the week before. At 2:24 p.m. PDT the Moon moves into friendly Aquarius. We feel lighter and freer in the light of the Aquarian Moon, a great time for gathering with friends.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
