In the Stars October 20-27, 2019…shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon

The Sun moves into Scorpio on Wednesday, symbolizing transformation and deep change. Wrap up projects during this week’s last quarter Moon before the New Moon on Sunday. Draw inward this coming month while the Moon is in Scorpio. Curl up by the fireplace and read or watch a movie, and disengage from your busy daily life. Replenish yourself now, in preparation for the holiday season ahead when the Sun is in social Sagittarius.

The Moon is in Cancer on Sunday, focusing us on home and family. Sunday is an active day of planetary activity. The main theme is attention to relationships, supported by a benefic Venus-Saturn sextile. We are encouraged to shore up our finances. This is a good day to lean into home improvement projects.

Monday morning will likely be a slow start with the Moon void of course from 5:39 a.m.to 9:29 a.m. PDT. You may want to catch a little extra sleep. Then, at 9:29 a.m. PDT the Moon jumps into enthusiastic, playful Leo. A romantic Venus-Neptune trine heightens our imagination and elevates our inspiration. Our preferences may be challenged by a square of Mars to the Moon’s nodes.

The buoyant, exuberant Leo Moon sextiles Mars early Tuesday morning, and pushes us to get up early and get going with vigorous exercise. With the Moon in a benefic trine to Jupiter, we feel that we are on top of the world, and can accomplish almost anything. Make this a fun and joyful day!

The Sun moves into Scorpio on Wednesday, the zodiacal sign symbolizing death, rebirth, and transformation. Scorpio is a fixed water sign, drawing us deep into the mysteries of life and death. During this next month, we will want a lot of solitude to ponder our lives, essential in preparation for the busy, outgoing holiday season in the sign of Sagittarius that follows. The Moon is void of course all morning, so don’t expect too much to happen until the Moon shifts into Virgo at 12:30 p.m. PDT. Then it is time to get organized and get moving. The Moon makes benefic aspects to the Sun and Uranus. Lot of things can happen, including a few surprises.

Seize the day Thursday to put your life in order. Attend to details and grab the grounding energy to get organized and handle unfinished business. The planets are aligned to foster cleanliness, order, and transformation.

Make sure that your work obligations are fulfilled before Friday. The Moon is void of course from 6:00 a.m. through 1:20 p.m. PDT. These hours are good for wrapping up details, reading, or handling routine tasks. The Moon moves into Libra at 1:20 p.m. PDT, so if you still need to have an essential meeting, this would be the time for it. By evening, we want to take it easy and have a relaxed, gracious, social time.

The Moon in Libra on Saturday wants peace and harmony, but this is hard to come by with the Moon’s hard aspects to difficult planets (conjunct Mars, and square Saturn and Pluto). We can easily feel irritated and frustrated, if not angry. I think the best way of dealing with hard aspects is to lean into your work and projects, and to challenge yourself physically with vigorous exercise. Make patience and kindness your mantras. The Moon is dark, so take some solitude, which can be helpful with the challenging energies.

The Moon is void of course on Sunday until 1:20 p.m. PDT when it slips into the deep waters of Scorpio. Mars squares Saturn, another irritating, edgy aspect. Stay focused and patient to glide through the rough edges that you may encounter. The Scorpio Moon joins the Sun at 8:38 p.m. PDT to form a New Moon, and this lunation is exactly opposite to unpredictable Uranus. Surprises will be revealed.

Feelings and passions run deep as the Moon stirs in Scorpio on Monday. Several benefic aspects invite hard work where magic can take place. With the Sun opposite Uranus, expect a day full of surprises.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
