In the Stars November 12-19, 2017…shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon November 18

Several alignments this coming week can uplift and transform relationships, including our relationship with money [Pluto-conjunct-Juno; Venus-conjunct-Jupiter, and Venus/Jupiter-trine-Neptune]. First, let’s consider the meaning of the Pluto-Juno conjunction. Pluto symbolizes transformation and empowerment, and Juno symbolizes marriage, partnership, and meaningful relationships. This combination at 17 degrees of Capricorn gives us the power to change and improve our primary relationships. It could be time to confront deep issues and problems, to transform patterns that no longer serve you or your partner, and to empower each other through trust, respect, and encouragement. The Venus-Jupiter conjunction expands themes of love and money; the combo’s benefic trine to Neptune inspires us. This week’s energies are infused with compassion and tenderness. Not only is this an extremely good time for relationships, but also we may be lucky financially. Enjoy the glow, and from the warmth of your heart uplift the relationships you care about deeply.

The Sun continues to shine in the sign of Scorpio tropically (until November 21). This time draws us into deep truths, inner journeys, and attention to financial founts that will sustain us. Savor this inner quietude so that you will be ready for the holiday season when the Sun moves into Sagittarius the following week.

A strong planetary theme over the last few weeks has been the Saturn-Uranus trine that just closed in exact on November 11. We are still riding on the energy of this alignment to create structure for new endeavors. The attention and discipline to change or to create something new is still available. Continue to use the gift of this positive alignment to make progress toward one or more of your life-enhancing goals.

The Moon is in Virgo tropically from Sunday through Monday afternoon. The Moon in Virgo calls us to attend to the work at hand, to clean house and get organized. Saturday, November 11, sported the last exact trine of Saturn to Uranus, an aspect that calls us to create structures for our new and extraordinary ideas. As described above, we can continue to use this energy all week. In addition, the Virgo Moon makes numerous benefic aspects, which should give us practical energy and efficiency to do this work. Sunday is an inspiring, productive day. Sunday is also a day calling for service, so do something of benefit to someone else. Put on some music while you go about your tasks, happily. This is not a day to relax. Make the most of this industrious, yet imaginative day.

A fortunate, lucky, Venus-Jupiter conjunction early Monday morning colors the work week with opulence. This generous aspect flies in the face of the restrictive, demanding, cautious energy of a tense Moon/Chiron/Saturn T-square. The Moon is Void of Course from 7:45 a.m. through 3:26 p.m. PST, so attend to routine tasks and don’t waste time on appointments or meetings that will disappoint, or purchases that will need to be returned later. Thus, Monday is mixed and confused by the combination of a VoC Virgo Moon and a Mercury-Neptune square. With the paradoxical and nebulous energies at play, it is impossible to know what this day holds. Be relaxed and open to the flow.

The cardinal, action-oriented Libra Moon graces Tuesday and Wednesday with its qualities of love and beauty, generally good for soclal affairs. Tuesday’s evening hours could be somewhat edgy and impatient as the Moon combines with Mars. The outer planets Pluto and Uranus pack a punch when they combine in dynamic aspects to the Libra Moon on Wednesday. Expect the unexpected. A benefic Moon-Saturn sextile helps us deal with challenges and get a lot accomplished. A patient, generous heart behind perceptive thought should lead to good outcomes.

Thursday sparkles with the vision and kindness of benefic aspects between Venus, Neptune, Jupiter, and the Moon…and also the Sun and Chiron. An exact Venus-Neptune trine is the highlight of the day, offering creativity and magic. The Sun-Chiron trine offers healing. The Moon is in Scorpio, drawing us deep into feelings and intimacy. The Moon is dark before the New Moon on Saturday, drawing us inward. Mark this day on your calendar, and express this abundant positive energy in imaginative, beneficial, and expansive ways.

Friday, Venus’ Day (Viernes in Spanish), still glows with the glorious, creative energy of Thursday. The Scorpio Moon squares the lunar nodes, giving us a nudge or a strong push toward purpose. A benefic sextile between Mercury and Mars calls for action with words. Write an editorial, or speak up about something that matters. A lunar sextile to Pluto provides the steam to engender goodness toward what deeply matters.

A New Moon at 26 degrees of Scorpio heralds a new lunar cycle on Saturday. This New Moon calls for a deep look at what needs to be changed and transformed in our lives. Given the other cosmic energies this week, relationships and finances are areas of focus calling for pruning to spur new growth. Saturday’s slow start results from a Void of Course Moon until it bounces into sunny Sagittarius at 10:59 a.m. PST. Then we are called to adventure. Take a late autumn bike ride or road trip, or travel in your mind and learn something new. Saturday evening is staged for a party!

Sunday is a tempestuous day as a result of an exact Mars-Pluto square. It would be best to start this day with intense exercise to burn off the tension, and to invigorate yourself. Then lean into a demanding project. If tempers flare, stay cool. The day is volatile, and yet you can use this dynamic energy to power through something challenging and worthy of your great effort.

Everyone have a great week. You can!

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.

One Response to In the Stars November 12-19, 2017…shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon November 18

  1. Joseph John Lang, Ph.D. says:

Thanks for the very illuminating writing about this coming week.

I have wondered and wondered what the meaning of the Moon squaring the lunar nodes could mean. You at least hint at it here. I have never seen anything extensive written about this. I have read and heard that the South Node refers to past while the North toward future. Yet my own South Node is in the 2nd house, conjunct my own Moon that has several asteroids conjunct it! I always see how important occurrences are to my Aquarius Moon. Yet I fail to understand the North Node — I guess particularly since it’s in the 8th house.

I have been continuing to experiment with healing approaches that do not conform to standard allopathic medicine and not completely to naturopathic medicine, either. And I am learning what people “might” do when they are ill and completely out of money, as this is my own situation. It often seems that no one thinks of the fact that becoming very ill can deplete any and most of the money one has acquired. I confront the alternative and naturopathic “community” as lot about a “pay or die” assumption that underlies new approaches to health and healing.
