In the Stars May 7-14, 2017…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

Mercury turned direct last week, so communication will continue to clear and plans can now move forward, though Mercury will still be in its shadow until May 20. Mercury and Uranus are still within one degree of each other all week at 24-25 degrees of Aries, fostering innovative thinking and brilliant ideas. These planets make a benefic trine to Saturn in Sagittarius, meaning that we can actually ground some of these great ideas into practical plans. Tune in, and continue to capture the insights that pour forth. Consider the structure and discipline that would make us healthier and more content (Saturn square Chiron).

You will have accomplished much over the last few days. Sunday the Moon shines in sociable Libra. Sunday’s Moon-Jupiter conjunction calls us to visit an art gallery or gather with friends, and enjoy the grace of these days. I’ll be expressing the cosmic alignments by going to the Summer of Love exhibit at San Francisco’s DeYoung Museum.

The usually suave, congenial Libra Moon has a bumpy ride with Monday’s aspects to Pluto, Uranus, and Mercury. The ride evens out late in the day when the Moon makes a benefic sextile to Saturn, ushering in a Void Moon period after 3:59 PM PDT. Then it is time to relax, and enjoy a fine dinner and good company.

Tuesday and Wednesday the Moon is in Scorpio, drawing us deep into our feelings. Mercury and Uranus have been within one degree of each other for a couple of weeks, and now make an exact conjunction at 25 Aries. This aspect symbolizes brilliance, and may produce some astounding ideas and insights. Tune in! Another cosmic that event that occurs is the Nodes’ entry into the Leo/Aquarius axis. The North Node will be in Leo and the South Node in Aquarius for the next 18 months tropically. Wednesday is lit by the powerful glow of the Full Moon at 20 degrees of Taurus (Sun) and Scorpio (Moon). Pluto adds power with benefic aspects to this Full Moon. Wednesday’s theme song is about connecting to a cause that is greater than ourselves, artfully and strategically. Think about the issues that matter to you, and take action to make a difference.

After a slow, undefined start Thursday morning, the Moon leaves the darkness of the Scorpio Moon for the sunny skies of Sagittarius. A Mars-Neptune square clouds the morning; however, clarity emerges in the afternoon with Mercury making a perfecting trine to Saturn. Sound thinking and action is supported.

Friday is buoyed by a Mars-Jupiter trine. The Moon makes benefic aspects to Venus and Jupiter. Aim high, get going, and make things happen, but restrain form pushing too hard. Keep your cool as you navigate Friday afternoon traffic and the transition to the weekend.

Saturday is set for adventure and serious discovery. My day includes attending a webinar on financial astrology, an example of innovative and practical exploration that is the theme of this day. Aim to learn something new.

Mother’s Day Sunday is a practical day, supporting work. After honoring of the mother in your life early in the day, it may be best just to give her time to attend to matters demanding her attention, and get some things accomplished yourself. A Moon-Venus square in the evening tends toward emotional restraint. Focus on preparing for the week ahead.

The Week in Short:

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.

Exact Void-of-Course Moon times for the month ahead (one lunar cycle) are:
