In his recent Full Moon enewsletter, my friend, Astrologer Tad Mann, wrote: “One of the strongest forces these days is the conjunction in the fiery, independent sign Aries of the intelligent Mercury and the belligerent Uranus, where perceptive insight will provide unusual solutions to current situations that defy logical gravity, and create a strange collaboration and/or disconnect between self-willed interests and acute realizations. They are part of a grand trine in the last degrees of the three fire signs, and this shows us explosive situations where many are likely to lose their heads (figuratively if not literally) amidst a chaotic scene where even basic language cannot be validated easily and upset and excitement reign in even the most secure places.” www.atmann.net
Uranus/Mercury in Aries, Saturn in Sagittarius, and the North Node in Leo form this Grand Fire Trine. With Saturn in the mix, we can ground some of our brilliant ideas into practical plans. Continue to capture the insights that pour forth. Saturn continues square to Chiron, calling us to consider the structure and discipline that would make us healthier and more content.
Sunday, Mother’s Day, is a practical day, supporting work. You will want to be frugal with time and resources in celebrating Mother’s Day this year. Plan the week ahead, and get ready to make the most of a dynamic week ahead with great potential.
The work week begins with an industrious Monday, propelled by a desire to stretch our capacity a little further than usual. Make preparations and get organized on Monday evening for Tuesday, as the Moon is Void of Course until 10:50 AM Tuesday morning. Then the Moon moves into Aquarius, and mid-day makes a challenging aspect to Mercury. Rather than engaging in a clashing conversation of strong alternative options, pull back and be a detached observer. Mercury has just entered Taurus tropically for the next four weeks. We can now test the plethora of ideas that have resulted from Mercury-conjunct-Uranus by taking practical steps to manifest them.
The friendly Aquarius Moon makes benefic aspects to Venus, Jupiter, and Mars on Wednesday. Meet a friend for lunch, and another friend for happy hour or dinner or a night out at the ballgame. You will want to be socially active and engage in friendly, generative conversations.
Thursday offers yet another day highlighting friendships, graced with benefic aspects. Thursday also sports the week’s major aspect: Saturn trine Uranus, bringing out the best in these planets. This is the second of three exact trines, the first being December 24, 2016, and the third being November 11, 2017. Saturn brings grounded, practical applications to the radical, rebellious ideas and actions that Uranus evokes. While this aspect is exact Thursday and Friday, it has been strongly at play since mid-April and continues in a tight 2-degree orb through mid-June. Thus, we have a good month ahead to manifest some of the great ideas that have burst forth. The aspects of the day are a fitting tribute to my husband Ralph Metzner’s birthday (May 18), and thus his Solar Return for the year ahead. His life’s work has been an ongoing Saturn-Uranus expression (he has a Saturn-Uranus sextile natally). Friday is the last day of the Sun’s stay in Taurus tropically. Although the Moon is in soft and dreamy Pisces on Friday, underneath what may be an illusion of kindness and beauty are some harsh, jagged aspects (Mars quincunx Pluto and Sun square the nodes). A Venus-Jupiter opposition amplifies options. The day may not go as expected or desired. Better to go with the flow than to push the river.
The Sun’s first day in Gemini, Saturday, is a mixed day. It gets off to a strong start with a benefic lunar aspect to Pluto, giving us the drive to get a lot accomplished. Edgy lunar aspects to Mars and Saturn later in the day may bring emotionally challenging situations. Persevere.
Early Sunday morning the Moon bounces into a new lunar cycle in Aries. At sunrise the Sun and Moon blend well to kiss the day with pep and curiosity. Set off for a weekend hike or adventure.
Finally, another timely, interesting observation from Tad Mann: “A note here is that for the last six Kentucky Derby’s I have been using astrology to predict horses in the money, and have been remarkably accurate most of the time. This year stands out as such an obvious validation of the principles I use that I feel obliged to mention it. Making a chart for the time when the race is estimated to end (which is the finish), the sign in the fifth house Pisces) is the race itself and the planet that rules the fifth cusp (in this case Neptune) is the likely winner. This time Neptune was in the fifth house near the cusp, which amplifies the strength of the prediction. When you match the ruling planet Neptune (fantasy, dreams, the unconscious, as the God of the Sea, etc.) with the horses you immediately get Always Dreaming, a horse that runs well in wet conditions on a day when the track was wet from rain.” www.atmann.net

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
Exact Void-of-Course Moon times for the month ahead (one lunar cycle) are:
