The tri-annual, three-week Mercury retrograde period is here again from May 18 to June 11. Mercury symbolizes communication, and its retrograde motion beckons us to pause and re-think, re-organize, and purge the Inbox and remnants of lists undone rather than start new endeavors. Communication can get snarled and confused, so be patient with mistakes and with those who make them. Appliances, cars, and computers break down more often during the Mercury retrograde period. The next three weeks call for reviewing, re-visioning, and revising…and perhaps repairing.
Sunday is illuminated by the exalted Taurus Moon that is about all things sweet and sensual. Sprinkle your Sunday with pleasure, including delicious food. Take a leisurely walk in nature. There’s a New Moon late Sunday at 26:55 (9:13 PM PDT) or early Monday morning (12:13 AM EDT). The New Moon heralds new beginnings; yet, the Mercury retrograde motion moving in tends to override in favor of revising and re-thinking. Don’t leap forward without first thinking about how you may want to change a direction or alter a project. It will be better to “sleep on it” in the coming days rather than engage in rash action or words.
Monday may be full of twists and turns and cosmic jokes. The Moon is in Gemini, the sign of curiosity, an energy that bounces around and doesn’t stay in one place very long. Our emotions are energized by a Moon-Mercury conjunction. We can become somewhat spacey and off-track as a result of Neptune’s square to Mars and Moon. Mercury is stationary retrograde on Monday—the beginning of its three-week reverse motion. It could be an unpredictable day that goes in directions that you may not have intended to go. Being flexible and adaptable will help you go with the flow. The day could also deliver some stimulating conversations and ideas.
Tuesday is spacious and fosters expansive thinking. The Moon is Void-of-Course all afternoon and evening (after 10:57 AM Pacific Time) which is time when things don’t come together with definition. Think about new possibilities, but hold off on decisions.
The Moon is in its home sign of Cancer from Wednesday to Friday afternoon, which focuses us on home and family and the comforts of life. Wednesday there are no exact aspects. This would be a day to take off from work and relax. You probably can’t escape your obligations, but at least take time to savor the pleasures of the day in light of the Sun’s last shining in the sign of Taurus tropically.
Thursday, however, is a very different story. The Sun moves into Gemini tropically, which correlates with activity and chattiness. New ideas abound. This is the day of the week when the Moon shines its light on the bold, dynamic Uranus-Pluto square which shakes us out of our comfort zones. Venus joins the Moon, delivering new connections or re-connections, romantic and otherwise.
A VoC Moon looms Friday until 2:42 PM Pacific time, when it then moves into playful Leo. The Leo Moon loves a party, though Saturn’s opposition to the Sun will give restraint. Enjoy an evening of classical music at the symphony or an inexpensive gathering with friends. This should be an appropriate beginning for the first of the three summer holiday weekends, Memorial Day, when many have traditional gatherings with family or friends.
Those energies continue on Saturday, a great day for party, as an astrologer friend who wisely planned one to which I am invited knows. Jupiter joins the Moon, amplifying joy and pleasure. The Moon makes benefic aspects to Mars and Mercury as well. This delightful, happy day will make just about anything you do turn to gold!
Sunday morning pops with a Moon-trine-Uranus that could deliver a pleasant surprise. Otherwise it’s a quiet day in the heavens and the Moon is Void-of-Course. Just take it easy and bask in the Sun and fun. Watch a ballgame, enjoy a picnic, or just dream big.
The Week in Short:
Sunday: Practical day to get work done. Enjoy good food. New Moon in Taurus at 9:13 PM PDT.

Wednesday: Take it easy and enjoy the pleasures of the day—last day of the Sun in Taurus.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet and before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. You will more easily get lost or meander if you’re trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
