In the Stars March 1-8, 2020…shining light on the astrology of the week

Mercury is in its last week of retrograde motion. Review, reflect, revise, renew. Mars continues out of bounds until June 12th but it is starting to move ahead of the South node this week, easing a little of the heat. We saw this hot and fiery combination in effect with last week’s stock market fluctuations and the fiery Democratic presidential candidates’ debate. When Mars is out of bounds, behavior is more erratic. Go slowly, stay conscious, and keep your cool. The South Node, Mars, Pallas Athena, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all remain in Capricorn. Sun and Neptune are in visionary, compassionate Pisces. Strong energy abounds for tremendous productivity and imaginative problem solving. Sunday, March 8th Daylight Savings Time clicks in.

We can get a number of weekend chores accomplished Sunday morning, fueled by the Moon’s benefic alignments with Pluto and Saturn, even though the Moon is void of course. At 11:21 a.m. PST the Moon leaps into curious Gemini. Sunday afternoon beckons us to a social outing, especially one in which we might learn something. How about a visit to a museum or to browse in a local bookstore?

We may lose ourselves in a whirlwind of ideas on Monday as the Gemini Moon squares the Sun and Neptune. Since Mercury is retrograde, the energies of the day could be good for re-thinking things. The day is also primed for inspired writing or losing yourself in a good book. Be imaginative and curious.

A Venus-Saturn square on Tuesday may stir up concern about money and relationships. Curb spending and get to work preparing your tax documents. Talk out concerns. With the Moon in agile Gemini and Mercury retrograde, problems and plans can be re-worked. The mood lightens in the evening as we come to new understandings and re-imagine solutions.

Numerous planets are on the move on Wednesday: tropically the Moon moves into Cancer, Mercury moves retrograde back into Aquarius, and Venus moves into Taurus. An added bonus is that all three of these shifts support the strength of these three planets. There are numerous planetary aspects, mostly benefic, making this a day with great energy and potential. However, the needy Cancer Moon opposes out-of-bound Mars and the South Node, and this alignment can be volatile. Venus’ grounding and steadiness in its ruling sign of Taurus should help us navigate choppy waters.

Thursday begins with a soft and dreamy Moon-Neptune trine, but don’t get too comfortable, as the day gets more demanding with oppositions to the Moon from Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn in Capricorn. Meet the demands with action steps and productivity. You may want to attend to some home improvement projects.

Friday’s backdrop is a fiery, playful Leo Moon which could be fun—but lunar squares to Venus and Uranus give an edgy energy which can also be creative. The Moon-Uranus square could deliver something surprising. Enjoy a romantic, colorful, playful evening.

Make Saturday a fun, leisurely weekend day for play, especially with children or grandchildren. There are few planetary alignments. Enjoy a romantic evening with your sweetie or with good friends. Set your clocks ahead one hour, as Daylight Savings Time kicks in at 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Daylight Savings Time arrives early Sunday morning, taking an hour of our sleep. The Moon is in Virgo on Sunday, fostering a day for getting organized and attending to many tasks and details. The Sun conjuncts visionary Neptune, lifting us up to a larger cosmic picture. Venus and Uranus conjunct in Taurus and make a benefic trine to the Virgo Moon. We open our hearts to love and exciting possibilities. Much can be accomplished this day, and we can expect a few nice surprises.

Monday sports a SuperMoon Full Moon in Virgo, numerous mostly-benefic aspects, and Mercury turns direct. This is a power-packed day. Much can be accomplished. Make the most of this high-energy awesome day.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
