In the Stars February 17-24, 2019…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

The Sun moves into Pisces tropically on Monday, February 18, ushering in a zodiacal month focused on vision, inspiration, spirituality, creativity, compassion–and water. This is a month to go whale watching along the California coast, or skiing in the mountains. This is also a good month to visit art exhibits, or to paint a picture, make a creative card for someone, or write a poem. Express your inspiration.

This week holds a Full Moon which is a SuperMoon, a Full Moon that is close to the earth. The Full Moon occurs just after the Moon moves into Pisces, at 0:42 degrees of Pisces/Virgo. This Full Moon contains the tension of ideals we want to accomplish and the practicality of what can actually be accomplished. Aim high, work hard, and the results of this Full Moon energy will be tremendous accomplishment.

The Moon bounces into fixed fire Leo early Sunday morning, ushering in a day of fun. However, the fun could be spoiled by conflict generated by the Moon’s edgy square to Mars and Uranus. If things get tense, find a creative, playful way to change the energy.

Monday, February 18 is a day of shifts. The Sun moves from Aquarius to Pisces at 3:04 p.m. PST. Pallas Athena stations retrograde at the critical degree of 29:29 Libra, giving a focus on the arts. With Uranus opposing Pallas Athena this is particularly creative aspect in effect all week. Chiron re-enters Aries at 1:07 a.m. for an eight-year stay. Venus is conjunct Saturn, calling us to our responsibilities regarding love and money. Monday’s alignments can help mediate conflict. The Moon makes a benefic trine to Jupiter at 4:00 p.m. PST. Whatever is at play, this aspect makes everything look like it will all work out well.

The Moon is Full on Tuesday, exact just after it shifts into Virgo. This Full Moon is a SuperMoon (close to the earth) at 0:42 degrees of Pisces (Sun) and Virgo (Moon). This Full Moon is energized by benefic aspects to the Mars-Uranus conjunction. Expect some nice surprises. Pisces symbolizes the ideal; Virgo symbolizes the practical, get-it-done work ethic. We may face the dilemma of time management regarding what we want to accomplish, and the limit of the 24 hours available in a day. Even though our efforts may fall short of our aspirations, a tremendous amount of work can be accomplished in the light of this Full Moon both Tuesday and Wednesday. Venus is flanked by Saturn on one side and Pluto on the other side, making a conjunction of these three planets in Capricorn. This configuration in the industrious sign of Capricorn also lends itself to hard work and substantial accomplishment within inherent time limitations. Aim high, and work efficiently and effectively. Your sustained efforts will deliver impressive results. The Moon is void of course at 5:51 p.m. after it makes a trine to Pluto, a crowning moment for Wednesday’s accomplishments.

Thursday and Friday the Moon is in social, copasetic Libra. Thursday morning the Libra Moon opposes Chiron, focusing us on what needs to be healed in our lives. There are no exact major aspects the rest of the day; Jupiter’s Day (Jueves) is a blessed day to go optimistically, and savor our relationships.

Friday, however, is a different story, as it is infused with planetary activity, much of it edgy and challenging. Two major aspects color the day: Mercury-square-Jupiter and Venus-conjunct-Pluto. The Mercury/Jupiter aspect may lead us to talk too much, exaggerate, or promise more than we can deliver. On the other hand, ideas flow and conversations can be expansive and generative. The Venus/Pluto aspect may deepen the love we feel and express if we are open and trusting. Friday abounds with aspects between cardinal signs Libra and Capricorn. Cardinal signs are action-oriented signs, so a lot can be accomplished. Meet your challenges with the grace and dignity of the Libra Moon, and with the blessings of a benefic sextile from Jupiter.

Saturday and Sunday we dive deep into our feelings with the arrival of the Moon in Scorpio.  Saturday morning may get off to a surprising start, thanks to a Moon-Uranus opposition. A Mercury-Pluto sextile helps us get to the heart of matters, and the aspect is also good for research. When the Moon is in Scorpio, we want to withdraw from the world and take some time for solitude.

We are uplifted on Sunday with benefic aspects from Neptune, Saturn, and Pluto to the Moon. Scorpio symbolizes transformation, so this would be a good day to clean up a part of your home and get rid of excess, lifting the vibration of the space to a higher level.

Monday will be off to a slow and undefined start with the Moon void of course in Scorpio all morning until 1:19 p.m. PST. Then the Moon moves into fiery, optimistic Sagittarius, and we are off to the races, ready to make the most of the week ahead.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
