In the Stars February 16-23, 2020…shining light on the astrology of the week

The Sun enters Pisces tropically on Tuesday, February 18th. Mercury is retrograde for the next three weeks beginning Sunday, February 16, a time to review, revise, re-adjust, and renovate. Also on Sunday, Mars goes out of bounds and conjuncts the South Node of the Moon. When Mars is out of bounds we may experience more erratic behavior and hotter tempers. The Mars/South Node conjunction signals a volatile period the few days before and after. Go slowly, stay conscious, and keep your cool.

Sunday is an eventful day in the cosmos. Mercury turns retrograde for a three-week backward spin through March 9th. Mars moves into Capricorn tropically where it is exalted, or strong. The Sagittarius Moon trines Venus in Aries. This is a high-powered, spirited day.

Monday, President’s Day is colored by the sunny Sagittarius Moon. It’s a dreamy, visionary day.

The Sun enters Pisces tropically on Tuesday, signaling the last month of winter and the last month of the annual zodiacal cycle. The Moon enters cardinal, action-oriented Capricorn and soon after conjuncts Mars and the South Node early in the morning. Arise and get your exercise game going. The Moon trines Uranus, perhaps bringing some nice surprises. The day is bold and exciting. Make things happen.

The encompassing energies of Wednesday combine strong, grounded, practical energy with vision and inspiration. The Jupiter-Neptune sextile, exact Thursday, is amplified by a Jupiter conjunction to the Moon. We reach for our dreams. Stretch yourself and apply your strong work ethic to move mountains.

The more difficult conjunctions of the Moon with Saturn and Pluto occur as we sleep, with the Moon-Saturn conjunction beginning a Moon void of course period from 6:18 a.m. through 11:42 a.m. on Thursday. Do not expect a crisp start to your morning, so plan accordingly the night before. Stick to routine tasks in the morning, and refrain from meetings that will go nowhere. At 11:42 a.m. PST the Moon moves into friendly, freedom loving Aquarius. Jupiter and Neptune culminate in an exact sextile, a creative, visionary aspect. The planetary energies of Thursday invite us to imagine a better world and a brighter future.

Mars forms two aspects on Friday: a benefic trine to Uranus that encourages building and innovation, and an edgy square to Chiron, beckoning us to break free toward our own path. With the Moon in Aquarius, the day calls us to gather with friends for fun and fellowship.

The Moon is void of course all day Saturday; thus, the day is less clearly defined and open to meanderings. Allow yourself to drift wherever your energy wants to flow. Garden, attend to chores, read a book, visit a friend, or putter in your home. The Sun is sextile Uranus, so we want to express our individuality, and we may happen upon some great discoveries. Enjoy this free-form day. The Moon is dark, so take some solitude for yourself.

Sunday sports a New Moon in Pisces early morning PST. Numerous aspects make this an active day; yet, the Moon is in Pisces, so we prefer to dream and create. Be artful in your expression of this day.

Monday is bold, active, visionary day. The Moon conjuncts visionary Neptune and sextiles Jupiter and Pluto. Our imaginations soar. The Sun makes a benefic aspect to Mars. We are energized. We can create a more compassionate world of beauty.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
