In the Stars April 30-May 7, 2017…shining light on the astrology of the week

Now we are well into spring with the Sun shining in Taurus tropically. Mercury turns direct mid-week, after its three-week retrograde spin. Over the next few days, continue to review, re-think and revise. Mercury and Uranus are within one degree of each other all week at 24-25 degrees of Aries, fostering innovative thinking and brilliant ideas. Mercury and Uranus are trine Saturn in Sagittarius, meaning that we can actually ground some of these great ideas into practical plans. Tune in, and keep a notebook handy to capture the insights that pour forth. Saturn squares Chiron, calling us to consider the structure and discipline that would make us healthier and more content.

Sunday beckons homemaking activities such as gardening and cooking before the work week begins anew. By evening, tension mounts with the Moon-Pluto opposition, and Moon-Uranus square, just after midnight. These powerful aspects can be harnessed into goals and intentional challenges for the week ahead.

May Day Monday carries a tense and nervous energy from the early morning waning aspects of the Moon to Pluto and Uranus. The Moon is Void of Course at 1:23 PM through 9:12 PM PDT when the Moon moves into Leo. Tend to business, and make connections in the morning and early afternoon before the Moon makes its last aspect to a planet at 1:23 PM. Then allow things to flow, and focus on routine, insignificant tasks.

The Leo Moon colors Tuesday and Wednesday with themes of playfulness and creativity. Mercury is stationary on Wednesday, and turns direct in motion. It is now time to set re-worked and new plans in motion. The Sun makes a benefic sextile to Neptune, adding vision and inspiration. Another boost of inspiration comes from the Grand Fire Trine formed by the Leo Moon with Saturn in Sagittarius and Uranus in Aries. This day is lit up with color and sparkle. Take time out from the mid-week responsibilities to unleash your creativity.

Coming off the warm glow of the last two days, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning are framed for work. The Moon is in industrious Virgo, forming a Grand Earth Trine to Pluto in Capricorn and the Sun in Taurus on Friday, a supercharged day to get a lot accomplished. The Moon is Void of Course Saturday morning; attend to loose ends as you employ the last hours of the Virgo Moon.

You will have accomplished much over the last few days, and the remainder of the weekend Saturday afternoon through Sunday the Moon shines in sociable Libra. Saturday evening’s Moon-Venus opposition, and Sunday’s Moon-Jupiter conjunction call us to gather with friends, and enjoy the graces of these days.

The Week in Short:

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.

One Response to In the Stars April 30-May 7, 2017…shining light on the astrology of the week

  1. Joseph John Lang, Ph.D. says:

Moon VoC! While I’ve been familiar with “problems” that can occur while trying to “do” things while the Moon is VoC, I had a most potent demonstration of this phenomenon during the last couple VoCs, when I “had to be” on the phone, trying to solve problems and work out potential solutions with people, and while the phone time started before the Moon went VoC, it did go VoC while I was conversing. The conversations started to go “off course” and things became harder and harder to discuss. Confusion and “negativity” of a sort crept in, in very obvious ways. Because I was aware that the Moon would be VoC, I made a point of trying to end the discussions both times and did so.

But I am also aware that in early April, I had to be in court for something (a very difficult issue), and I knew the hearing was in VoC territory. I was surprised that things appeared to go very well. People around in the court told me “You did win this one.”

However, weeks later, I have found that my “win” has been sabotaged by a bank and another firm in a big way. Now I have to run around and “correct” things and hope I can straighten them out. The “things that went wrong” happened AFTER the VoC apparently “successful” meeting. Of course Mercury was retrograde also.
