In the Stars April 29-May 6, 2018…shining light on the astrology of the week: Wesak Full Moon

The powerful Wesak Full Moon in Scorpio heralds the week ahead. The Sun continues to shine in the zodiacal sign of Taurus, symbolizing nourishment and growth. Taurus symbolizes all things sensual: beauty for the eyes, music for the ears, delicious food for taste, spring fragrances for our sense of smell, and delightful textures and people to touch. The Taurus Sun makes benefic trines to the planets in Capricorn: Saturn, Mars, and Pluto, making for an easy flow of things in general. Now Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto are in retrograde, encouraging inner reflection and reconsideration.

A Full Moon in fixed signs (Sun in Taurus, Moon in Scorpio) lights Sunday with power and promise. Saturn makes benefic aspects to this Full Moon, and the combination of industrious Saturn in Capricorn; the practical, grounded Sun in Taurus; and the deep, transformative, powerful Moon in Scorpio creates a firm foundation. This Full Moon forms a tense square to the Moon’s Nodes, creating a fixed Grand Cross (with a Moon wobble). A Moon wobble occurs when the Sun is conjunct or square the Moon’s Nodes. The wobble creates instability; the Grand Cross pattern carries a lot of tension, yet tension creates change. An opportunity is presented to get out of ruts and stuck places. Neptune makes a benefic trine to Jupiter and the Moon, broadening our vision, and opening our hearts to love and accept ourselves and others. This is the Wesak Full Moon, when Buddha bestows his blessings on humanity. We can open our hearts to the messages and blessings of the light of this Full Moon.

The week begins on a high note of vision and idealism (Scorpio Moon trine Neptune in Pisces). The Moon/Jupiter conjunction gives the day bounce and optimism. The wind is at your back! The day’s opportunities continue through the evening, as the Moon makes opportune aspects to Mars and Pluto. Scorpio symbolizes power, and combining this symbolism with the day’s opportunities and aspects, we want to seize this dynamic day and make the most of it.

Tuesday, May Day-May 1, holds a potent, challenging, and perhaps dangerous, Mars-Eris square. Be careful and go slow. The Moon shifts to optimistic Sagittarius at 8:19 a.m. PDT. Take a hike or walk in nature, as Sagittarius loves an outdoor adventure, and loves to move the hips.

A Sunny Sagittarius Moon delivers two more upbeat days on Wednesday and Thursday. Words flow easily, direct and to the point. On the other hand, a Moon-Neptune square may lead to confused communication. Optimism and inspiration will help to create a winning outcome. A crackling lunar trine to Uranus in fire signs (Moon in Sagittarius Moon and Uranus in Aries) may correspond with something surprising.

The Moon shifts into Taciturn Capricorn Thursday evening where it resides through Saturday. Duty and responsibility call Friday and Saturday. A Moon-Saturn conjunction mid-day Friday symbolizes focus on work. Vesta, asteroid representing the keeping of the hearth, also aligns with the Moon and Saturn, amplifying the work theme. This is not a lazy, celebratory Friday. Get focused, and get a lot accomplished.

Energies are mixed on Saturday. On one hand, the Capricorn Moon makes a number of benefic aspects to Sun, Neptune, and Jupiter, easing the tension of the day. On a more serious and demanding note, the Moon conjuncts Pluto and Mars. All of these aspects drive us toward accomplishment and success, especially the more that we give our life the works.

Sunday is a lighter, friendlier day. The Moon is in Aquarius. The Taurus Sun sextiles Neptune, an opportunity to bring more beauty into your life. How about making a trip to the garden store and purchasing some plants to bring more color into your yard? Look around and discover something new, and connect with friends.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.

One Response to In the Stars April 29-May 6, 2018…shining light on the astrology of the week: Wesak Full Moon

  1. Joseph John Lang, Ph.D. says:

I see you bring Eris into interpretation with the planets we have all known. I have been looking into Eris online as much as possible, but there does seem to be quite a bit of confusion even among astrologers. Knowing that Eris is in Aries and where in Aries has told me that it’s important in my transits. It’s no nicer than Pluto and a disturbing force to have to think about! I look forward to anything you post about it. I trust you will let us know.
