In the Stars April 16-23, 2017…shining light on the astrology of the week

Wow! The tropical month of Aries went by fast! The Sun moves into Taurus Wednesday, April 19. The Sun is in a waning conjunction with Uranus all week, so the surprising, electrical, unexpected symbolism of Uranus will be highlighted this week.  Several planets have been changing direction, intensifying energy and activity. Saturn and Mercury turned retrograde. Venus turned direct yesterday, and Pluto turns retrograde in the coming week. There is still time to use these bold, electric waves of energy to make some profound changes.  Mercury moves in retrograde motion. Continue to re-invent yourself, re-think, re-do, and renew.

Easter Sunday is activated by both benefic and challenging aspects to the fiery, carefree Sag Moon. The Moon is Void of Course from 11:26 AM to 4:05 PM. Pause and enjoy Easter brunch or a leisurely family dinner. At 4:05 the Moon goes into practical Capricorn. This has been one big, busy, full, active week. Look back on all that has happened. Sunday evening we can ground and plan the week ahead.

The work week starts strong, yet gentle. The Sun and Saturn are in a benefic fire trine, drawing us to make a plan for projects and get on with the tasks to complete them. The Capricorn Moon helps us get the work done, and love doing it. Meanwhile, a Moon-Neptune sextile gives sensitivity and compassion.

Tuesday roars with dynamic potential. With the volatile, aggressive, unpredictable political news of late, this day could be explosive. However, the same planetary patterns put to good use could help us break through stuck patterns and make great strides with new deals and business ideas. This is the last day the Sun shines in fiery Aries tropically.

Wednesday’s friendly Aquarius Moon lightens the load from yesterday. The Sun enters the fixed earth sign Taurus for the next month, pointing us toward practical activities such as gardening, cooking, and beautifying our homes.

Pluto stations retrograde Thursday, poised to move in reverse direction for the next five months until September 29. When a planet stations its symbolism is amplified. Pluto’s job is transformation and empowerment; the call is for deep self-examination.  A Moon-Jupiter trine in air signs mid-day encourages and uplifts.

Friday is an active day, with numerous aspects, both benefic and challenging. The main theme of the day is Venus square Saturn, testing relationships and confronting us with the limitations of what we value.  Mars moves into Gemini, energizing conversations, thankful to be out of Taurus where has been plodding along. The emotional weather may be stormy as the Moon squares Mars. Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon the Moon brings inspiration and compassion as it shines in Pisces. Saturday’s Neptune/Moon conjunction makes the day beautiful and dreamy.

We may be slow to get up and get going on Sunday. Things look better in the afternoon when the Moon conjuncts Venus. At 5:32 PM PDT the Moon bounces into Aries, and we are ready for adventure. We are enthusiastic about the week ahead, even though the Moon is darkening, in preparation for a new Moon.

The Week in short:

Easter Sunday: Mixed day of highs and lows and Moon VoC 1:25-4:05 PM PDT. Capricorn Moon at 4:05 calls for grounding and planning the week ahead.

Monday: Strong start to the work week. Get things done!

Tuesday: Dynamic, volatile day. Breakthroughs possible.

Wednesday: Friendly Aquarius Moon wants freedom and space. Sun into Taurus. Focus is on practical matters for the month ahead.

Thursday: Deep and powerful themes for the day with Pluto stationary retrograde. Moon-Jupiter trine encourages and uplifts.

Friday: Highly active day, with stormy emotional weather. The day is sensual and dreamy, too.

Saturday: Inspiring, dreamy day.

Sunday:  Slow morning. Sunday evening prepare enthusiastically for an adventurous week ahead.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
