Corrected–In the Stars February 23-March 1, 2020…shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon

Mercury continues in retrograde motion for the next two weeks–a time to review, revise, re-imagine, and re-adjust. Mercury retrograde makes us more prone to communication errors. This blog I sent yesterday noted incorrectly that Daylight Savings Time ends next Sunday, March 1; however, it is rather the following Sunday, March 8. Thus, I am re-sending this blog corrected for this error. I’ll also take this opportunity to apologize for the sometimes-funky formatting lately. has changed some things and some recent posts have been delivered with some uneven formatting, even though when I type them in they look fine. Bear with me while I try to address this.

Mars continues out of bounds and conjunct the South Node of the Moon, giving volatility. We saw this combination in effect with last week’s stock market fluctuations and the fiery Democratic presidential candidates’ debate. When Mars is out of bounds we may experience more erratic behavior and hotter tempers. Go slowly, stay conscious, and keep your cool. In addition to the heat and aggression of the Mars/South Node aspect there are strong Capricorn and Pisces themes now. The week begins with both Sun and Moon in Pisces, joining Neptune, giving compassion, vision, and creativity—as well as idealism. Five planets are in Capricorn:  Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, and asteroid Pallas Athena. Combining the brilliant Mercury in inventive Aquarius, the best of the planetary energies in the week ahead enable tremendous productivity and imaginative problem solving. The week ahead holds Mardi Gras, and Ash Wednesday, the Christian beginning of Lent.

Sunday sports a New Moon in Pisces early morning PST. Numerous
aspects make this an active day; yet, the Moon is in Pisces, so we prefer to
dream and create. Be artful in your expression of this day.

Monday is bold, active, and inspiring. The Moon conjuncts visionary Neptune and sextiles Jupiter and Pluto. Imagination soars. We are energized by the Sun’s benefic aspect to Mars. We can create a more compassionate world of kindness and beauty.

After a slow start Tuesday morning due to a void Moon in Pisces the
speed picks up considerably when the Moon bounces into Aries at 10:47 a.m. Then we want to jump into new projects and get moving. Lean into your work on Tuesday afternoon and get a lot accomplished. The Moon’s dispositor, Mars, is conjunct the South Node, possibly triggering conflict. However, Mars’ benefic sextile to Mercury enabes us to talk things out. This is Mardi Gras, traditionally a time to party before the 40 days of fasting before Easter. Sleep may be restless due to a Moon-Mars square.

Ash Wednesday is an active day with the Moon in dynamic
let’s-get-moving Aries. Get to the gym and get moving, or take a vigorous hike. With numerous planets in cardinal signs, Wednesday is a day to push forward and get things done. As the Moon is in the first sign of the zodiac it is a perfect day to begin a fast of some sort in honor of lent, or simply as a new beginning.

A Moon-Venus conjunction adds some sweetness to an otherwise
strident, demanding Thursday. If you don’t push forward yourself, others may push against you with challenging planets Saturn and Pluto squaring the Moon. Lean in, be productive, and make this day count.

Venus’ day Friday (Viernes) is graced with a Taurus Moon, one of the signs of the zodiac that Venus rules. Yet Friday is a crackling, brilliant, complicated day with numerous aspects, both benefic and difficult. The Taurus Moon offers sensibility and grounding. Be prepared to catch the bright ideas that the Mercury-Uranus sextile may offer, and expect a few surprises, twists, and turns. Taurus loves pleasure, so be sure to sprinkle your day with sweetness.

Saturday is a grounded, peaceful, inspiring day to relax and
enjoy sensual pleasures such as good food and comfortable surroundings. Take a walk in an elegant garden that offers pleasant fragrances and beauty.

We can get a number of weekend chores accomplished Sunday morning, fueled by the Moon’s benefic alignments with Pluto and Saturn,
even though the Moon is void of course. At 11:21 a.m. PST the Moon leaps into curious Gemini. Sunday afternoon beckons us to a social outing, especially one in which we might learn something. How about a visit to a museum or to browse in a local bookstore?

We may lose ourselves in a whirlwind of ideas on Monday as the Gemini Moon squares the Sun and Neptune. Since Mercury is retrograde the energies of the day could be good for re-thinking things. The day is also primed for inspired writing or losing ourselves in a good book. Be imaginative and curious.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting
decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
